sounds like a power supply issue or possibly a cpu fan not working causing the cpu to overheat.

when windows has a stop error or a serious system error it usually give some info on the screen. If you are overheating you Bios should tell you. Post the messages you get. Make your computer NOT to reboot on a stop error or you might miss some messages. Probably a sound card or display driver issue.

I had a similar problem with my HP DV9000. I now use a docking station and put a fan to it.

they overheat - it happens more so when you don't properly vent the vents though.

While we're on about bugs, here's my one. If I switch my camera on AFTER I have fired up my new dual core computer, it crashes. When it fires up again, it states that "a serious error has occurred". I have now learned to switch my camera ON, before firing up the computer.
