I love the windows layout feature in Vegas Pro, and now SF studio as well as VMS 10. Just curious, as to how you my fellow Vegas editors have set up some of your layouts. I consistantly use and have stored 4-5 that seem to work good for me, but I am always looking for ways to improve my workflow.
How can you gentlemen work with so short time lines? My time line space is in the upper part of the display - and uses all available 1920 pixels on the 27 inch screen.
Always have the time resoloution so that one second is 7 milimetres - which means that I do not need to think (yeah - yeah) but can "see" the length of crossfades etc. intuitively.
As I mostly do 1920x1080 my preview is half size and down to the right.
Ritsmer,
Not sure what you mean by "short time line" send a screen shot if you can. I to use all the space across my screen a 22" 1680x1050 for the timeline and a 17" for my other tools, I also have a 19" CRT for preivew .
I do sometimes stretch the timeline across both monitors.
I would like to have 2 24" monitors soon or one "Ginormous" 30" (by the way any of you using a 30" yet.
I really like having 2 -24 inch monitors (both at 1920 x 1200). Like you all, I have my timeline on top (unlike the Adobe products) and my preview and transitions/Vid FX on the Right screen. The only difference is I keep the far right half of my right screen open for Windows explorer (1-2 windows) where I can preview thumbnails of still images and drag and drop them into the timeline. It would be nice to have thumbnail views in Vegas' explorer window but that would probably be a big drag on resources.
The flexibility and preset options Vegas has is great - some projects just need a little different layout and the ability two swap quickly is great.
