Windows Media Video CBR is VBR ?!?

Hi,

I need to render WMV9 video's for a client using the EXACT bitrates he specified.
I'm trying to make a template and the audio bitrate is fine.
But when I set the video bitrate and then check the rendering,
it's not the rate I specified, rather 1 third larger !
Do more people have this problem ?

If I put these specifications in Autodesk Cleaner XL 1.5 then it all works !
But this will add more steps to our workflow...

AUDIO:
CBR
Windows Media Audio 9.1
12 kbps, 8 kHz, stereo (A/V) CBR

VIDEO:
CBR
Windows Media Video 9
Custom image size: 384 x 288 Square pixels
25 fps seconds per keyframe = 8
Override default compression buffer: 5 seconds
Video smoothness: 90
Bitrate 109 K

Hope anyone can help ! :-)

Sounds like you're looking at the bitrate for video and audio together.

No, when the rendering is done and I analyse the WMV file.

The overal bitrate is 166 Kbps
video bitrate is 148 Kbps
and the audio bitrate is 12 Kbps

I don't get where the 166 comes from.
109 + 12 + overhead = not 166 !

hmm, I'm checking my video analyser now.
The problem is likely to be in there since Windows Media Player gives different values...
