windows xp and pal

When using sonics video capture program or any other capture program, The program will only recognise my pal vcr as an ntsc vcr. The vcr is a Sony dhr-1000np.
The capture card is a generic firewire card using mirosoft drivers instead of TI. The whole system works using a PAL Panasonic dx100 camcorder. Also the Sony works perfectly on a windows98se setup.
Any ideas please!

Do you get device control and file data coming over 1394 to this deck?

Yes I do get data and control, however I get an error message with control, telling me to recycle the power on the deck. I do get data also but the picture is broken up e.g. mosaic. Your program also displays ntsc when in fact the deck is pal. Since my first message I have swopped hard drives over and installed windows 98se with directx 8.0a which has cured the problem. So it must be an xp problem. I would like to use xp as it is a superb o/s. So if you can shed any light on the problem I would appreciate it.
I forgot to mention, the panasonic dx100 cam works perfectly on 98se and xp. Seems to be to do with the sony driver?????
