WinDVD 6...huh?

I just cut a DVD (stereo AC3s and MPEG2 video streams from Vegas) with a welcome loop, a small clip after the loop, 3 menus after that with 3 clips each, and a farewell montage after the last clip in the last menu. Everything plays fine in DVDA, and in a set top box. I've always demo'ed things with WinDVD, but this time the audio drops out after a minute or so. A few coasters later, I get the same result. So, I try Windows Media Player, which I hate, but all the 'coasters' work fine. What gives? Anybody else have WinDVD tank on occasion?

Never mind, I checked and I am using version 5.

Just an FYI: For $20 I upgraded to WinDVD 7, and the same thing happened. Having started with WinDVD 4, I decided to downgrade to an old version of WinDVD 5 - no sense in going all the way to 4 in one step. Version 5 worked fine. I also downloaded the trial version of PowerDVD 7 for the heck of it, and it too worked fine. Unfortunately, it's a CPU hog, so I uninstalled it. On the other hand, Windows Media Player strained the CPU the least, but it lacks the navigation controls and Dolby Headphone of the other players. So, in the end, WinDVD 5 was a keeper. I wonder what's up with 6 and 7? I did notice that 5 was the only version that correctly displayed the time counter during the loop.
