Winter Olympics effect!!

Guys

After having come back from a skiing holiday I've taken a video of my son going down a slope from top to bottom and thought it would be quite cool to overlay some kind of stop watch from the start to end. e.g. 0:00:00 at start in bottom right corner going up every second.

Any ideas on how I could achieve this? I'm a developer so could even write a program to display a stop watch and then create a movie out of it and overlay on to the top of the original video. It would be nice if their was a way in vegas without any coding though

If you have Boris as a plug

Create empty event select Boris fx select text .in text window select generator + type + timecode

John Meyer's Count Up/Down Sports Clock veg should be what you need.

Why not using Vega´s own timecode fx? If the frame counter is disturbing just mask it out. You might have to render this part of the video as a separate project, this should not be a problem due to Vegas' great project nesting-ability !

Or put it on a track of it's own on an empty event that starts and ends where you want the clock to start and end. Add the cookie cutter effect to block out unwanted digits.

Thanks for the heads up on the time code fx Christian …..i’ve never noticed this in Vegas before, I would assume this would be in Generators = like text Gen???

It's an effect, under Video Effects, and it's named "Timecode".

Shot thanks Kelly found it ,played around with it .it seems as you are stuck with one type face and it only runs forward, never the less very useful

"... and it only runs forward..."

This is a tad tedious, but... you could set the required length in the TL (using an alpha BG), render it out, bring it back into the TL, reverse it to get the desired effect, and lay it over the intended footage. Would that work?

I didn't know that the olympi'cs clocks runs backwards ;)

Christian

PS: Reversing the rendered clip is the easy way of reversing the clock. Ok -using this FX you are limiter to the font it uses, but you can adjust its height and width independently...

Why would a competition clock run backward??? I thought the whole point of timing sporting events is to see who can do it faster?

The only time I could possibly see a clock running down to zero is if you have xx:xx time to complete an event .. but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Hockey is one, mainly because I just finished watching the Canadian women win the gold medal !!!

a very proud Canadian right now

Ok ok ok

I was thinking about the Guinness book of records where the guy runs backwards. it would be very very nice to have the clock also running backwards (:

Hell Mike! were those women? NO WONDER Canada is such a peaceful country (:

I do a lot of event clips and using countdowns is a fun way to introduce the next event
