Sonic Foundry could issue a specialised font for subtitles. We need a condensed light or demi-light font with small blunt serifs (slabs). Microsoft does a few good fonts, but none are optimal for subtitles (Andale is the closest, in my opinion).
I'm afraid it would have to be a free font, and you would see it used in a lot of none-SF circumstances, so you'd be wise to give it a name that will remind the users of where it came from.
I would also want a new variable under the text generator's properties window: adjustable (grey) background for the text lines only, not the entire frame (which is already an option). This will make it much easier to create good, readable subtitles.
The shadow option is a great thing, but there's nothing like a 40-50% grey background for high readability. (I know I can create such a background in Vegas, but if it followed the text automatically it would be so much easier.)
Christmas is coming, and I've been a good boy, so what do you say?
