You're such a rascal... it started so well, I was intrigued ... and as I was reading the pieces and parts list, it ended... lol
Yes, by all means, keep us posted on the progress of the project...
For me, I'm at the age where I'd rather pay to bypass all the hassles associated with building it ... at my age, I'm surprised I'd even mention the word bypass. . . (grin ... wince)
haha....Good Luck man. Not easy...I'd have best buy on speed dial. they can tell you how not to put it together. jaja.
My moddo in doing such a job is.. "when in doubt, guess!"
I would wish you luck, but the intro scared the bejesus out of me. I kinda had my face too close to the screen and the volume turned up a bit for something previous I was watching.
I just built one very similar a couple of weeks ago. I used the new ASUS p6X58D Premium mother board.
Also got 12 gig of RAM.
This is where you might get into some trouble, if you want to run your memory on high speed i.e. 1600Mhz(or overclock). I had it showing up 6G or 8G or 10G of ram randomly when booting, with 12G installed. This is not a board problem, but rather a slight limitation in memory controller on the i7 processor.
If you are not going to overclock then you will most likely not see this if you have good memory.
I currenly have my i7 running at 3.9GHz with all 12G of memory running at 1200Mhz.
Right now running prime95 (a stress test program) with all cores running and CPU temps at 70C for 18 hours straight.
