WM encoding

I'm using the trial ver of Vegas 5. I'm rendering a couple of wmv files. It's a 30 min (I know, really long for the web) presentation. I'm going for 2 sizes; 640x480 and 320x240 v7 video (and then the same in v9). I've tried numerous variations in the settings and the 640 is 112,779 and the 340 is 112,685. Should there be more difference between the two? Are there any good tutorials out there for using WM? They should just send it to everyone on cd.

You need to adjust your bit rate, since that determines file size. A 640x480 video encoded at 1Mb/sec is the same amount of data as a 320x240 video at 1Mb/sec. You are basically encoding the smaller video w/ much better relative bit rate (for the size of the video) than the larger one.

Since the 320x240 is 1/4 the size of the 640x480, to have a comparable video you should reduce the bit rate to 1/4 on the smaller one.

Aha. I'll give that a try.

Way too much stuff to learn
