WM Player7 cannot playback Ligos MPEG2!?

I've rendered an MPEG2-Movie using the Ligos codec that
comes with VegasVideo. Playing it with Windows Media Player
on my computer works, but two friends told me WMP7 wouldn't
play the file on their PCs. It tries to search for a codec
on the net, but cannot find one. Shouldn't WMP7 be able to
playback MPEG2-movies created with the Ligos-codec? Maybe
I'm getting something wrong, but doesn't VV/Ligos-codec
create a standard MPEG2-movie? Even WinAmp (with the VidAmp-
PlugIn) can play it. Or do I need a special decoder?

MP7 doesn't not support MPEG2 unless the codecs are on your
machine. It does support MPEG1, so if you use any MPEG1
template, MP7 will be able to read it-

Thanks for the answer. Does the same apply for WinAmp? Is
it also only able to play it because the codecs are
installed?

Is there a way to deinstall/deactivate the codec for
testings (registry entries etc.)?

You could do an uninstall of the MPEG plug-in for testing-
