WMA vs MP3 and Bit Rates

Does anybody have any recommendations for using WMA vs MP3 songs in VMS? Are both formats supported equivalently? Will both provide equivalent sound quality on the rendered movie?

What about bit rate? Any suggestions on constant vs variable bit rates and whether I should use 128, 192, 256, etc? I'm not looking for audiophile quality, but do want the songs to sound good.

Thanks in advance!
Gary

Both standard mp3 and wma will suffice. I once recorded a song from YouTube using Audacity and used that as a soundtrack, and it sounded pretty well on my tv.

Of course, if you want more than just stereo, say 5.1 surround, your source sound file must support that. But that's a whole other ball game.

I would use wma. Mp3 I don't like just because it is very old early 90's and plus it crunches dymatics out of whack and there are royalties involved. My favorite by far is ogg vorbis. but for Windows....wma all the way.

My two cents
