WMP9 16bit? How?

Grazie wrote on 10/24/2006, 12:03 AM
OK - I've got a final project I wish to distribute as a WMP9. I notice I have a mass of templates within V7 for the job. But I can't pick one out that is 16bit stereo using my 48kH.

Am I missing some vital crucial information here?

It has to be WMP, so please don;t ignore this. And yes, I can do other flavours of rendering.

TIA

Grazie

I'd suggest you forget doing WMV encoding in Vegas and get the free Windows Media Encoder from uSoft, and devote some time to tweaking it.

Thanks Bob. I "hear" thru your comment that this is not a task that is a sweet as the WINEnc? Yeah?

I did not know Vegas was not up to rendering wmv - what is the matter with it?

Well I (and others from recall) have not got exactly stellar results and I always seem to have to wrestle with what it'll let me do and what it will not. None of the presets seem to make much sense and you can't change all the parameters like you can with WME.
Oh yes, that's the other thing, no WMV presets for 25fps in Vegas.

If anyone has gotten good WMV encodes out of Vegas I'm all ears but hardly high on my priorities list when something that's free solves the problem.

Bob.

Well, done it thru' WinEnc. I can choose 25fps. The Audio format and so on. I've reduced a 366mb > 6mb . OK, not for BIG screen broadcast, but it gets the job done for the Organisation. BTW, I thought it was me being stupid that I couldn't find the 25fps option in Vegas? You too huh?

I'm going to see if these numbers I got to work in WinEnc can be implanted to a Vegas WMV template.

Thanks again Bob!

There was a thread about V6 by SPOT about on what to use for WMV settings but the results were not too great because of the "jumpies". At least in my case. I believe it was 8 meg bitrate HDV. Haven't tried V7 yet.

"no WMV presets for 25fps in Vegas"

Yes there are- check the WMV render templates list.

For PAL HD: Start with the "5 Mbps HD 720-25p Video" for computer playback and then tweak to suit _after_ you check a render.

Preset quality setting for the 720-25p template is 90%- your first step might be to crank that to 100 if the quality of the preset isn't quite there for you. Rendering using best quality will help if you are scaling frames from other than 1280x 720 sources (as most people I expect are)

Note that some computers will have a hard time playing back smoothly with bitrates higher than 5Mbs- anything higher typically requires a monster machine.

And why would anyone want 720p?
SD 720x576 at 25fps is a PAL standard.
HD 1920x1080 at 25fps is a PAL standard

Sorry don't know of anyone doing 720p in PAL land.
