WMV 9 used by VV3?

I downloaded and installed the new Windows Media Player 9.0 as well as the Encoder 9.0 (just released yesterday 1/7/03).

I can only see WMV version 8 in my Render As drop down menu. When I go into the custom tab for that template, the audio tab indicates version 9.0, but the video only shows version 8 (not 8.1, which I know some people have reported they see - or where did they see that?).

So, is VV3 using Windows Media codec 9 or 8 for the video? (When I look at the newly rendered clip's properties within VV3's browser window, the Audio is Windows Media 9, but the video is Windows Media 8.)

Do we have to wait for VV4 to take advantage of Windows Media 9.0?
