WMV Conversions

This isn't necessarily videofactory related, but I figured some of you guys might know an answer...

I downloaded the Windows Media Video encoder from the Microsoft website, and it will NOT encode ANY MPEG that I have! It begins to, then gives me an error. I've tried it with dazzle mpeg1 captures, mpegs that I rendered in videofactory, and even mpegs that I downloaded from the internet. I tried setting the output to every single setting type, and it will not do it.

My question is, is there something I'm missing, or is there another one out there I can use besides Microcrap that actually works!? I want to convert my mpegs to wmv without having to load them in videofactory and re-render them.

Thanx!

May i ask why you want WMV? If they're already MPEG, they're already
compressed. Converting your files to another compressed format is
going to make them very garbled. Converting MPEG to anything is a
poor process at best.

No, I've done it with a few of them already. The quality of wmv is just as good, and the file size is VERY SMALL compared to mpeg! I need to convert to conserve space.
