Anybody having problems viewing MPG files from the web in IE6 after they install the wmdist2 fix that was posted here? It fixed my ability to render to WMV, however immediatly after I installed it I get an error when WMP player is invoked through IE from a web link to an .mpg (even MPE, MPA) files. WMA and other formats are fine through WMP.

Hmm, I encountered the problem you mention when I upgraded to the WMP version 9 beta. (I think? WMP *crashes* when invoked to play an mpeg clicked on in IE. Most of the time, downloading it first will workaround the problem). The problem still exists with the release candidate. Hopefully just a WMP bug that will be fixed in the final version?

WMP 8.0 that came with winXPPro, installed the fix, then I got the error. I then installed WMP 9.0, and also the encoder 9 (because the encoder download *path* was similar to the fix path) and I get same error in IE6. The only way I see to avoid it is assign real player (or whatever) the file type for MPGs to play. Kinda lame, cause I wanted WMP to be my only player for all media.
