WMV8 encoding - no wm8 audio !?

In Vegas 4.0c, when rendering the timeline to WMV8 video, in the audio section I only see ACELP and WMV9 audio as options. Why isn't WMV8 audio there and how can I put it there? I just reinstalled wmfdist.exe (Windows Media 8 files) from MS but that didn't help. I have wm8eutil installed from MS also.

Any help is gladly appreciated.

The Windows Media Audio 9 codec replaces the WMA 8 codec and is backwards compatible with older players (does not require updating the codecs). You should be able to use WMA9 audio with no player compatibility concerns.

It's a different story with the Windows Media Video 9 codec. If you render to WMV using this video codec, other people using older versions of the Windows Media Player to view your video will need to update to include the new WMV 9 codec. The player should prompt the user to obtain the needed codec(s) from Microsoft (free download). Very old Windows Media Player versions may require updating the player itself.
