Hello,

I did a dvd of a wedding and now they would like for me to add some still shots to it. Since I did the dvd this computer has crashed and I lost everything in it and I have also bought another computer which will now be a dedicated computer. My problem is that I can't load the dvd into vegas, it does not want to read it and say's the format is not supported.

I reloaded Vegas on this machine and the dedicated machine and they both do the same thing. I can play the dvd but can't get vegas to take the files.

I am using version 4.0.. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

Try doing a search on VOB in this forum, you'll find lots of discussion about this.

One not that fast but effective method of unwinding a DVD is to use software created for that purpose. Take a side tour to
http://www.videohelp.com/

Probably look under their tips or ask in their forums which are the current tools for doing this.

For the future, you may wish to do what I do, save EVERYTHING to you hard drive as a MPEG with the DV format, the same you used to burn the DV, if you split the stream don't forget to make a copy of the audio.

I'm not sure how you plan to add these photos. If it's going to be another 'chapter' for the DVD and it doesn't 'have' to be listed in the menu, you can always use the freeware called 'DVD Shrink'. This will allow you to bring your DVD on to your Harddrive and 're-author' the DVD by allowing you to bring in or remove files to make a new DVD. The only trouble is, I don't think you can design a new menu that will work with it. Although, if that's possible, that information is probably at videohelp dot com too. Normally, when you re-author using DVD Shrink, the DVD then plays all chapters in succession without using buttons. (even if you copy your old menu, if you change anything about / re-author the DVD, the menu will no longer work.)
