Won't start with Boris FX

David Johns wrote on 8/6/2019, 1:12 PM

I know this has already been covered but that topic is marked as "resolved" by virtue of uninstalling BCC10! That's not a satisfactory option for me as I use BCC extensively.

Whilst Vegas works if you uninstall BCC first, if you then reinstall BCC10, Vegas won't start again. That renders my new copy of Vegas 17 entirely useless for the moment, even for testing. I have pressed "send" for the crash reports in the hope this helps.

If the devs are reading this, can you tell me if this is something you're going to be able to fix?

Cheers

David

I'm sure they will be able to, there's no reason it can't be fixed, but it may be Boris that has to do the fixing.

I very much doubt Boris fixing older versions of Continuum Complete for vegas 17 only . David is working with BCC10 ( older ) and this prevents vegas pro 17 to start . I here did install the trial of vegas pro 17 on a test machine and vegas pro 17 also does not start with BCC 12 and has to be removed . I even had to restart the machine after that and to get vegas pro 17 starting . Noticed Magix now also being aware and talking to Boris to hopefully get this resolved .

Hi I have a weird problem with Continuum_2019_5_OFX_Hosts_12_5_0_Windows.exe.. In V16 it works perfect

In V17, as soon as I add any BCC effect the colours change to a weird flavour.

Example..If you add the BCC Colour balance you get a strange colour effect..  This happens with all the effects.. but V16 is fine.

I am using windows 10 . 1903 ( same problem with 1803 and latest drivers on graphics,,

The left pictures is V16  and the right one is V17

Do you have the same issue?

@harry-worth I do not experience the strange color shift. There is by the way a new version of Boris continuum available with some fixes, you may want to install that (Continuum_2019_5__OFX_Hosts_12_5_1_Windows.exe)

WOW... a frustration here after purchase of Vegas Pro 17 Suite. It won't even start - not even the first time! Submitted full report. With the above comments on Boris, it's hard to trust uninstalling and trashing all the great Boris FX that do work perfectly in Vegas Pro 16, just to take a gamble on Boris' iffy reported results in Vegas Pro 17 (Suite).

QUESTION: Isn't there way to at least keep new Boris Installs separated for Vegas 17, and NOT overwrite the paid for/licensed important Boris FX plugins (for Vegas Pro 16 on the same Desktop)??

I'm currently stuck with a completely inoperative useless expensive Vegas Pro 17 Suite and a bleak outlook for future use of previously purchased/licensed Boris FX plugins (when even using them in a program they were intended for - Vegas Pro 16).

You can temporarily move out the FXs from 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX' rather than uninstalling-installing.

I make new folder like 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX off' and move those FXs here.

Here the same colour change in preview window when adding whatever of BCC and that with both versions BCC 12.5 as well 12.5.1 and only in vegas pro 17 . In fx browser preview of boris itself there is no colour change , only the vegas pro preview ( red tones turn into blue ) . vegas pro 16 is OK . ( test system is on win 7 pro ). GPU ON or OFF , doesn't matter.

Hi... Have done a few more tests.....  Tried BCC trial 12.5.1.... No change..

I have noticed that when I try to add the compositing mode and then Custom and select the Match Move,( the one I most like in Boris )  the media on the timeline changes colour ( as you say...Red seems to change to a blue type colour and other colours seems to switch (.looks a bit like NTSC viewing on PAL )..

However, if I add the BCC FX Colour Balance to the same media the colours correct themselves without actually touching any adjustments in BCC Colour balance, so there is a work around...

On the BCC  Preset View, if you double click that FX,  on some it shows correct ( Flesh tone ) and other the wrong colours,,,,,,,,

V16 Works perfect with Trial BCC trial 12.5.0..and 12.5.1

So not clear where the problem is...but if it works in V16... then you would think that the Graphics cars/drivers would be OK...

Hope someone can find a fix for this as it is not just me that has this issue...….

I notice that User SET says you can move the FX to a new folder,,  Can you clarify that if I want to use my Trusty Boris OFX 8,  that I can make that work in V16 and still have the Boris OFX 12.5.1 on V17 as there are some nice other features in V17 but some of my V16 projects use the older Match Move which the new Boris 12.5.1 does not know about so I can't open them in V17 without he obvious error.. ( FX plugin missing )

Thanks for your feedback..  Much appreciated...

Apologies to DEXCON... Sorry I did not answer your question.  With GPU on it is not happy and lumpy and wrong colours,,,

With GPU off I still get that colour issue which is  the same that Wilvan has .

Whilst my Graphics can is not the latest wizz bang one, it works fine on all other versions of Vegas,, including BORIS Continuum 12.5.1,,,,trial...but NOT on V17...  I am hoping there will be some fix somewhere appearing..
