Workflo help

I'm not a sophisticated user. Just trying to do simple vacation and family videos.

I just obtained a Sony HDR-PJ790V. I'd like to shoot in the new 1920x1080 60P, I'll have the highest resolution to work with. My problem is how to work with this in Vegas 12. I see how to make my project settings conform to the cameras resolution. Its when I go to render that I can't make things work.

There is a Mainconcept MPEG-2, Blu-Ray template that matches the project. But when I try to render with it, I get an error.

"Vegas Pro 12.0"
An error occurred while creating the media file test.m2v.
The reason for the error could not be determined.

What's the magic method to get from the camera to a Blu-Ray? Or, can this not resolution not be played on Blu-Ray yet? If that's the case, what should I render it at?

Thanks.

Your camera shoots AVCHD, so I would use the Sony AVC BluRay templates instead, even though it will still require a render.

That being said, I don't know why you're getting an error with MPEG-2.
Perhaps you're trying to render 60p? (not supported by BluRay, so you must render 60i).

I can't give you step by step instructions at the moment but try turning off GPU under Options, Settings, GPU. (I'm guessing at those names)

OK. I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this point. There is NO WAY to put 1920x1080 60P on a Blu Ray?

I was looking at a couple of newer players, and they claim that they can play this resolution/frame rate.

So, assuming it can't be done, should I shoot at this and then render down, if that's the correct terminology, to 60i? Or, am I better to change the capture settings in my HDR-PJ790V to 60i? I would think shooting at highest possible setting is best. That way in the future sometime I can possibly put it on some kind of disk and play it at 60P.
