Workflow Question.

Hi all.

I have been editing for a while with VMS 10 Plat. I used footage from a Canon HF20. Everything has worked great.

I recently purchased a Canon T3i DSLR. Editing with that has been a little challenging.

So I started to run the T3i footage through Neoscene. The results are great. Very editable video.

Here is my question, please tell me what you think.

So far the HF21 video and the Neoscene (T3i) clips seem to co-exit well on the time line. There is, however, a big slowdown if they overlap.

Would you recommend that I run all the clips through Neoscene, both the T3i and the HF21 ? The only downside I see is time. Not sure if any quality would be lost converting the HF21 footage.

Thoughts greatly appreciated.

"There is, however, a big slowdown if they overlap. "

That's an entirely different issue, as the slowdown will occur with any two clips, not just your particular flavors.

The explanation is that the composite video in the overlap area doesn't actually exist, but is only a set of instructions that must attempt to render in realtime when you preview it in Vegas.

The solution is to pre-render the overlaps (crossfades?) to either actual video or a RAM preview, thus ensuring smooth playback on the timeline. The capabilities and instruction to do so are contained in the Vegas program and Help section. Experiment.
