I am new at Vegas - is there a mechanism where you can "lock" segments - so that when you work with other segments before and after it doesn't change one that is "finished'.
However, if you really really are done with that section, you could render that section out to a DV .avi file, then replace that section on the timeline with this new file. That will reduce the whole segment to a single event which won't be altered. You'll probably want to make an incremental backup of your project file each time just before doing this so that you can go back and work on that section again later if you need to.
Highlight that section of the timeline. You'll get a thin blue bar running across the top of the timeline showing you the selection. Then when you render check the option to "render selection only".
Re: rendering segments - is it possible to get a smooth dvd by putting together different rendered segment?? If so, is it difficult? I want to make sure it doesn't look spliced together.
Kelly,
Could they also select all events they are done with, right click and go to 'Group' click on 'Create New' then right click again and go to 'Switches' and click on 'Lock'? Take care. Cin
I haven't actually tried this, but i suspect that, since Vegas only allows one level of grouping, the next time you do an ungroup, that lock would disappear. Vegas' group scheme is very fragile.
