Working with unsupported DVD burners

DVDA's known limition of supporting very few of today's burners has actually turned into a PLUS for me.

My NEC ND-1100A burner is not supported by DVDA, but it's what came with my Dell, and it works just fine (just not with DVDA). So, I create my DVD folders with DVDA and use a software DVD player app to check the results.

Then, I burn the DVD+RW or DVD+R using Roxio 6 (Creator Classic) by just dragging the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to an empty layout, setting the disc Title, and then clicking Burn. Works every time, no coasters.

Here's the big PLUS: By choosing Roxio's "Verify Files" option, I am able to make sure that there are no errors in the recorded material; I typically find a recording error on DVD+RW's about 5% of the time, particularly when the disc is very close to being full (the outermost part of the disc surface, which is recorded last, is the most susceptible to errors).

There is no "verify" option in DVDA -- but there should be! Even if/when the next version of DVDA supports my burner, unless it also supports Verify, I will continue to use Roxio to burn my discs.
