Works on PC but not DVD Player

I am after some help if possible. I have succesfully burned DVD-R's with architect using my Pioneer 106 writer. I have played them fine on my Accoustic Solutions DVD Player and on my PC however, last night I burned a DVD with complex video on the menu page. The burn was succesful and it plays fine on my PC but now my DVD player says "no disk". Has anyone experienced similar instances ? The disk size was 4.6GB, dropped to 3.5Gb after the first fail but this didn't work either. All I can think is that the player doesn't like video menu pages ?
Cheers

richmixb,

This sounds like the problem I was having. Read the thread DVDA - The good, bad and ugly. Basically the solution I came up with was to use the application that came with my dvd burner and bypass using the DVDA for burning purposes. Use DVDA to render the menus and final AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders then simply drag and drop these folders onto blank media and burn seperately. Good luck.

Excellent and thanks for that. The drive didn't come with any burning software but I do have the latest version of Nero and understand your solution as I was messing around with this sort of thing the other day so I'll give that a go tonight. Fingers crossed. Cheers

Nero is no joy, either. See the thread:

I would say your problem comes from one of two sources: either the final disc is not being recognized as a "legal" DVD-Video disc (set-top players are much more picky than PCs) or else your media is incompatible.

First, I would try other media, because that's the quick fix. If you're using a "-R" drive, I have had good luck with TDK, CompUSA, and Circuit City's "Digital Media" brands.

Eureka ! Thanks for all of your comments but after hours again last night trying Nero etc, my initial thought was right. I reduced the main menu video and re tried and it worked. Basically I was putting in far too much video and audio for the main menu page. Seems to work fine now however I was still dissapointed at the amount of coasters I made and the fact I can't have masses of fancy video on startup. Thanks for all your help.

I still think that there is a problem with a DVDA setting. Does anybody know? I think the setting should be one or the other. DVD-R or DVD-Video. It seems that NEO, Pinnacle and DVDit understand it, but DVDA is still lost on this issue.

Get som rw discs to do practice burns. Saves a lot of coasters.
