Just thought you folks might like to know that I'm holding the world premiere of my latest documentary, "War is Sell" on 12/7/04 at the Barrymore Theater here in Madison, WI. You can find out more at my website:

http://www.prolefeedstudios.com/War%20is%20Sell/warissell.html

2/3 of it was edited in Vegas. (My collaborator, who edited one of the three major segments, uses a Media 100) Many thanks to everyone on this list for help, plug-ins and inspiration.

I'm starting to stir up some media interest in this project -- at least in Madison.
The local arts weekly has a good review of "War is Sell" on:
http://www.thedailypage.com/going-out/movies/

I'm also getting some radio interviews: this morning on WORT 89.9FM, on Sunday on WSUM 91.7FM and back on WORT again on Tuesday afternoon. That last one is a call-in show from noon to one (U.S. Central Standard Time). We'll be talking about war propaganda in general. If you want, feel free to give us a call at (608) 256-2001.

If you're in the Madison area (Hello, Sony!), come by on Tuesday night and say hi!

I always thought I was the only vegas user in Madison, I've never seen anyone else post from here before :)

I may be one of very few here that think this way, but it sounds like a bit of a 9/11 spin off so to speak. Bush lied, Bush lied, etc... if it's non-biased production I think I would really like to see it as an interesting historical information movie etc... I in no way want to take away from your exitement and I'm certain that it's probably very good. However, I just get tired of hearing people who are bent on letting everyone know that President Bush is a liar etc...

Congratulations on your success!

Thanks for all the nice comments. IIt's been about two years in the making, and I'm excited to see it to fruition. Still trying to do some fundraising, so if anyone knows anyone with money.... ;-)

Kringle... ahh, yes. The "Danish" of the midwest. Good stuff.... we also have pretty good beer in this state, too.

FrigidNDEditing , I won't lie, I'm no fan of Bush or his war. And we do include a good deal of discussion about the Iraq War. But I was very interested in creating something more than just a "Bush lied" piece-- something that would have a life long after the Bush Administration is gone. So, we tried to put this into a historic context, showing how the techniques and tactics of propaganda work, drawing on examples from WWI , as well as a discussion about the anthropological basis for propaganda and warfare. I hope we achieved that.

winrock, the music was improvised by two independent musicians I know here in Madison who used to be in a local band called "SLIM" (Strange Latin Influenced Music). Angela McJunkin plays cello and James Priddy plays guitar. I've worked with Angela before on several other projects -- I shoot video of her music and performance art, and in return, she scores some of my films. It's a great working relationship -- sure beats negotiating with record companies!

you'll see there's a few of us from these parts. I counted 11 Wisconsinites.
Go Badgers!

Brian, put me down on your "People who want to buy on DVD" list.

When your film comes out on DVD, I'll be first in line. (email: john at possibilityx dot com)

Very nicely done.

The battle to control people's BS (Belief Systems) never seems to pause. It seems like everone wants some or all of the real estate floating around in our skulls....

Thanks again for the nice comments. Home DVD release may have to wait a bit -- we're still trying to get some fundraising done to secure appropriate copyright licenses for some ot the archival news footage we're using. I've started a list of potential DVD customers, and I've added those of you who asked for a copy in this thread. I'll let you know when the DVDs are released.

We're going to try to hit the festival circuit, and then look at distribution options. Most of my stuff I've self-distributed. The one experience I had with a distributor was not a pleasant one. With this piece, however, I'd reallly like to try to break into the educational market. I'm looking at New Day Films, a co-operative specializing in social issue docs. Anyone have any experience with them?
