Much more versatile than a fixed layout keyboard...

I think you'll be waiting for a very long time.

I've got the Worldtech Vegas keyboard. Love that it has all the commands printed on the keys. I had to put a sticky note on my screen to remember how the modifiers work.

Where the symbol is printed on the key shows you what you have to press as a modifier to achieve that effect. Think of each key as having six symbol positions on each key, three down the left side and three down the right.

Top Left: Standard Character (A, B, C, etc)
Mid Left: Requires the Alt key be pressed then this key to achieve effect.
Lower Left: No modifier required, press the key for the effect.
Lower Right: Requires the Ctrl key be pressed then this key to achieve effect.
Mid-Right: Requires Ctrl+Shift be pressed then this key to achieve effect.
Top Right: Requires Shift be pressed then this key to achieve effect.

I don't routinely use but a few. I've started using more since the Vegas 6.0d upgrade killed my Contour ShuttlExpress.

My only gripe about the keyboard is that it has the small backspace key. I'm a klutz on the keyboard and wear out the backspace key, but I've had to get used to the small version on this keyboard. I recommend the keyboard desptie this small gripe.

no issueas at all. I am finding it a bit slow to learn the color coding...i guess I'm used to usinf the screen a lot more than i should. But yes, the K/b works well.

I selected this make over another pre-printed keys manufacturer. I also contemplated using the plastic printed stick-ons, but decided a more permanent etched version would last longer.

Have a look on eBay...............

Anyone use the EditorsKeys Keyboard stickers?

They're about $15 USD.

I've used the WorldTech for a couple of years now and not had a moment's trouble. Works nicely for me.

Horrible thing to type on, I'm forever making typos with it.
Apart from that it's OK, just wish they'd started with a high quality keyboard.

Can't disagree with Bob!

The return KEY is BIGGER but it is kinda reversed/rotated in shape to this COMPAQ k/b. Is that what a "normal" k/b has? The backspace above the the return key has been reduced to fit in another CTRL key ( yeah? What's that about? ) and what this does is to squash the area around the 2 major keys - return and backspace.

But then again, it IS an NLE keyboard, and NOT a k/b for QWERTY work.

Grazie

I have the EdiKeys overlays for Cubase/Nuendo on my keyboard. Love it.

As far as LCDs under the keys - I just saw a Nuendo post demo at the Editor's Guild and they had a Euphonix MC controller there. VERRRRRY nice - with LCD screens under the console buttons, but the QWERTY keyboard was standard - would be cool to see LCDs under those keys too. Not cheap, but way cool.
