would going to quad core make a difference

I have a intel e8400 dual core and 4 gig of ram , win xp. Adding the neat video filter slows rendering to a crawl. Since quads have dropped in price, was wondering going to a quadcore would it make a big difference in rendering time. Rendering to QT and WMv.

that all depends on whether it's optimized to be multi threaded or not.

if so... yes, if not, possibly, or you could slow yourself down if you go to a quad with an overall slower clock speed and it's only going to utilize 1 or 2 cores.
