Would these files need to be rerendered?

I made a DVD a few years ago that didn't have any chapters set at that time. I find that I still have the MPEG2 files on the hard drive. I am aware that normally it's not the best thing to do to edit using MPEG2 files, But I was wondering if I took the MPEG2 files onto the timeline & added markers would the files need to be rerendered?

Alternatively If I opened the file IN DVDA would I be any better off? If I used DVDA & were to just add chapters, or even chapters with motion backgrounds, would the main files still have to be rerendered. The total MPEG2 file is only about 3GB.

You can open the Mpeg in the trimmer, add your markers, then save the markers from there

OR

Just bring your Mpeg into DVDA and add markers there as usual.

No need to rerender.

Would adding proper chapters with Icons, motion background etc still result in no rerendering?

If you do it the way Gary said, no re-rendering will be required (assuming the original files are DVD compliant to begin with).

In DVDA1, all the menus are rendered whether the media is already compliant or not.

In DVDA2, compliant menu assets are not rerendered.
