Could you explain Shy Tracks for those of us (myself included) that don't have AE?

Let's say you have 30 tracks on the timeline and the top ten tracks are getting in the way of your work. You just click on the "shy" icon next to the track(s) and then whenever you press the master "shy" button all tracks marked as "shy" dissapear completely from the time line. Whenever you want to see them again you just click the master "shy" button and they are back. You can do this to any track regardless of where it is stacked in the composition.

Gets my vote.
When you advertise your product as having unlimited tracks one would reasonably expect some way to manage them.
Taking the concept one step further and offering Prerender On Collapse would make Vegas more viable for complex compositing.

Then again Vegas is a NLE and AE isn't. Perhaps what we really need is a variant of Vegas called Vegas Effects Pro?

Hey if we're going to change the name can we get rid of "Vegas"?

This is similar to the 'Folder Feature' for tracks found in ACID... which is hopefully on its way to VEGAS. I too tend to Stack Tracks. Managing them can be a bit of a pain at times.

It's just a name, do you have a better suggestion?

I'd love to see a feature simlar to Acid's "folder" feature - especially for those of us who are working on (much) longer-form programs (or even features).

I've been championing Vegas to my producers for our movie projects. The 4K issue is one thing. Being able to isolate tracks (scenes) and the ability to condense everything would be a nice extra.

Sure it's just a name but it make Vegas sound like a toy. And we all know that Vegas is NOT a toy. It's an amazing editing program but the reality in our society is that people do judge things by the image they project. Final Cut Pro for example is a very good name which projects professionalism. Vegas reminds me of gambling and gaudy lights.

I'll start thinking of a new name as soon as Sony announces a new name contest.

AS soon as you provide a "shy" feature every forum will start getting posts that state "VP8 problem - Tracks gone/deleted/missing". Hundreds of threads all stating the same thing.

You're right of course. However, I don't believe that useful features should be avoided just because some people don't read the instruction manual. This is something that should be OFF by default and then each person can decide IF they even want to use this feature. That keeps the newbies from getting confused and allows a cool new feature for the rest of us.
