WOW - How to name Markers - easy solution!

Just discovered how to add marker names without fiddling about with the actual marker!

Hell, I've hated that tiny little mean flag sitting at the top of the T/L . .. .

This has come about as a result of wanting to have many, and I mean many, markers and name changes within a dance sequence. There maybe another way of doing this but suffice it to say this is getting me the results I've been wanting. . . .. . Okay, enough waffle . . . Have the clips running, 2 tracks of vid and audio; hover my finger over the M key and where there is a beat tap away on the M key - okay. I've now got something like 80 to 100 markers, all presently unnamed, not good for Excalibur, but here you go! - Access Edit Details view, Markers. There is a mass of unnamed Markers events, I've got 30 rows. Now I want to name these Marker events alternatively, to allow Excalibur to alternate between the 2 cameras. One camera is R and the other is G. I start punching in G in every other row. Once this is done, I sorted the Name column, and all the "blank" unnamed marker events come together. Now I just fill in the blanks going down until completed. Then resort the "Position" column and voila! Alternate Named Markers! - Just to check this out I went back to the T/L and they're all there! Neatly named and in their alternating positions - just ready for Excalibur to do its job - brilliant!

Now, okay this may not be the correct pro way of doing things but it is the bringing together some of the deeper functions of this software that keeps on giving me more. THIS is why I adore this package and why I'm becoming a bit of a bore about Vegas4 - but hey I'm amongst friends here - aren't I?

. . now this Edit Detail view is gonna get some hammering in the days to come . . I can see, potentially, other uses for it working in conjunction with Excalibur - oh yes!!!!

Grazie,

Excalibur's Multi-Cam Wizard has an Alternate Between Two Cameras option and you only have to name the first two markers.

Gary - I didn't know that! D'yer know I've spent an awful amount of time going through dozens of markers to do this!! - I suppose this works only for 2 cameras? Maybe my method has value for 3 or more cammies?

Just emailed Ed on another subject, but related to this. "D" option? How do I use this procedure?

Gary, thanks - Did you read my update on the "usding already rendered files . . . " I know now why I originally asked the question . . .

Grazie,

How do I put this politely? ...um... it's all in the manual.

Edit details is something I always leave open these days. Too bad you can't double-click an entry and go directly to that mark. Still, it's the most valuable tool for me as I gather hundreds of stills from video footage for use in online manuals.

Now that's clever!

Can we apply anytthing other than web commands to markers? Excalibur uses dissolve info . . bnut other than that what other things could a name in the marker title to get V4 do something?
