x.v.Color (xvYCC)

Any thoughts on whether capturing with x.v.Color enabled is good/bad?

(1) Does x.v.Color actually capture more information, or does it only spread out the values to appear more saturated? If more information is captured I'd be inclined to use it, even if (for now) my projects converted footage back to REC 709.

(2) What is the proper means to convert x.v.Color AVCHD back to sRGB or cRGB?

By the way--I shot black with x.v.Color on and off on my Canon G10 and the histograms are identical (RGB = 15). There is no indication to me that x.v.Color extends the REC 709 color space in the files recorded.
