XDCAM EX import problem

I have a Sony PMW-200 camcorder connected to my PC via USB. There are two SxS cards in it and these show up in Windows as drives G: and H: which I can explore and see the files on with no problem.

When I go into Vegas Pro (v13 build 424) and open Device Explorer, it resolutely tells me there's no device connected, even if I manually Browse to drives G or H.

According to the help file, Device Explorer should happily see those drives and let me bring in the files.

Am I doing something stupid or is this another Vegas bug?

Regards
David

If you are working with EXCAM, try using the XDCAM Explorer (Ctrl+Alt+5).

That's certainly worth a try however the PMW 200 does things differently to the other XDCAMs e.g. you can format the cards in either exFAT or UDF and it uses the MXF container not the MP4 container.

I have access to one but before I'm going invest time on this I'd like to know how the cards are formatted. Windows will reveal this.

One thing for the OP. I always recommend backing up cards to a local HDD, never use any NLE to look at them directly. Nothing should go wrong but things have gone wrong through people not getting into this habit.
