I am shooting with an XDCAM HD camcorder. Some recordings are true HD recordings, some are SD (DVCAM) recordings from my XDCAM HD camcorder.
I use the Vegas Pro 8 XDCAM Explorer to bring in my clips. I bring in the proxy clips to save time and do my edit with them.
When it is time to conform all the clips in my project, I pick that option from the XDCAM Explorer. I check the box that says "Trim clips to project". (I may have the words slightly wrong, but what this does is ONLY bring in the full resolution parts of the clips on the XDCAM disc that are used in the actual project, instead of everything on the disc.) Needless to say, this saves a lot of time if you only need a few minutes of video from three hours of recording on a disc.
When I am working in any of the XDCAM HD formats, this function works correctly.
But when my recordings are in the SD DVCAM format on my XDCAM disc, the "trim clips to project" function does NOT work and I have to wait for the entire disc to import at full resolution.
Is this the way this is designed to work or is this a bug?
Any workaround?
Thanks.
