XDCam PDW 1500 and Vegas 6.0c

I tried using Vegas 6.0c with the XDCam player/recorder PVW 1500. The video was recorded as IMX50. Interface between Vegas and XDCam was firewire.

Controlling the XDCam (playback, ff, stop, etc.) worked fine. I even could capture the footage though here XDCam does a live conversion of IMX50 to DV (means the recorded IMX files are convertered to DV this way).

But what did not work, and that's the very most important part to me, is the XDCam "File Access Mode" where I can handle the XDCam as an external device and just copy the MXF files (with IMX encodec video) from the XDCam device to the PC or import them into Vegas instead of capturing DV video.
The device opened fine but there were no files at all accessable. No single file was displayed though for sure there were lots of them.

Could this be a driver problem? Could it be a codec problem (IMX)?

you MUST install the MXF file viewer in order to make the files disk-transferable and visible inside of Vegas. The driver/application disk for the viewer should have been with the camera.

I now installed the MXF file viewer delivered with the PDV 1500 and it works like a charm. I can either copy MXF files from the XDCam device to the PC or either can have access to the files just from dragging them from the VegasExplorer right into the timeline (without copying). It even works fine if them are IMX recorded files.

This is a really great new feature of Vegas 6.0!

:-) Glad it worked out for you.
I felt really bad for one of the major networks, they've purchased 50+ XDCAMs and for import to Vegas, they were capturing real time. Ouch. All they needed to do was install that viewer and they were good to go.

I have tried to copy files from the PDW530 camcorder to the computer through a firewire cable and the speed was around 7,5 Mbyte/sec. Same for your computer and the deck?
Have you tried to copy through a network cable 100MBit or 1000 MBit? If so, what was your speed?
