why if camera is set at 1920 x1084 is footage in Vegas timeline 1140 x 1080 ?

your camera (mine as well) isn't a 1920x1080 camera. It's 1440x1080 with a 1.33 PAR (pixel aspect ratio. Set your project properties to 1440x1080 HDV and you should be fine.

Yep its SD card still images can go that high. HDV format is limited to 1440 x 1080, 1.333 PAR.
