XLR adapters ?

Hi Guys,

I hope this isn't too far off from the original intent of this forum,
but I need a little help.

I want to purchase an xlr adapter for my GL1. there is the popular
model by beachtech (dxa-4p), and the (xlr-bp pro) from Studio 1,and
yet another from Sign video.

One thing that makes since to me by the one from Studio 1 is that it
doesn't mount to the camera, it has a belt clip, so the weight of the
cables aren't pulling the camera off ballance, but the guys at both
of the other stores says the body of that model (from studio 1) is plastic,
which they say is not good. " hiss, and line noise" and such.

To make a long thread short, Does anyone out there have any feedback
to help make my purchse a smart one.

Thanks in advance,

kpitrl

Do an internet search on both and you'll find reviews and comments. I was looking into both and had decided that Studio 1 had the better equipment, plastic or not. There were complaints about Beachtech that IT was the equipment that hissed, not Studio One. Unfortunately this is equipment that's still on my wish list, so I have no personal experience yet.

Studio 1 is supposed to be a little bit better than the beachtek.

I have a Studio One. No hiss or noise so far (have only shot a few tests with it).
Yes, now that you've mentioned it, it IS a plasic. But so are most DV cameras and the stealth bomber ;-) The Beachtek may be a bit more compact.

At the suggestion of a pro-DP friend, I replaced my BeachTeck with the Studio 1 unit (the kind that mounts on my VX-1000) and I couldn't be happier. I prefer the Studio 1 smooth pots (versus BeachTek click-stop) and the audio quality is definately better since I made the switch.

Thanks Everyone!

Looks like it's Studio 1, I'll probably order it 1srt. thing monday.

Thanks again,
