XP Opens Vegas

When I connect my capture cam to my desktop and turn it on, Vegas opens automatically. I don't like this....If I turn off the camera, edit a bit, turn it back on....another Vegas....(plus it opens a capture window)...even if the camera is off and I open the tape door....another Vegas.

Before this, a window would pop up when I turned on the capture cam etc asking what I wanted to do when the computer recognized the camera....Somehow I have unwittingly instructed XP to open Vegas by default. I was able to click on the digital video device icon in the tray before it went away a second ago and it gives me the "Windows can perform the same action each time you connect this device" along with a list of programs plus a "take no action" tab. The "always perform the selected action button is not checked"....How do I get XP to stop automatically opening Vegas when it detects the camera??

With the camera connected, try going to My Computer and right-click on the icon for the camera. Select Properties and then click on the Auto-Play tab. You should see an option at the bottom to ask every time what to do. Select that.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't able to find the exact settings you described but I was able to get things back to normal. When I plugged in the camera, I quickly (it went away fast) clicked the icon in the tray and chose "take no action" and then checked the box to take that action every time. So far so good. Now the icon stays in the tray....just in case I want to go back (not).
