Xpx64 vs Vista 64 network speed

Interested if any others have experienced the same :
We have one PC running Xpx64, and one running Vista Ultimate (both with same versions of Vegas). Both access the same files on an extremely fast Server over 1GB E-net.
One the Vista PC we struggle to get 6-8fps display in the Video Preview window, whilst on the x64 PC we get 25fps reliably from the same source footage. All settings on the 2 PC's are identical.
As a test we did large file copies from the Server to the 2 PC's(nothing to do with Vegas) and they both copied at the same speed.
Its kind of like the Vegas/Vista combination is making accessing files across the network really slow.
Any others noticed this in a Server (NAS/SAN) environment???

Do you have service pack 1 installed on Vista? Which version of Vegas are you running?

Vista 64 bit has the ability to find a network even if you don't think you have one--AI. There is also a huge amount of background activity involving networks in Vista. Not sure why.

We are running Vista Ultimate SP1, with VP8.0c &8.1.

This doesn't sound like others are experiencing this slow down on a network.
