You CAN track with Vegas

It doesn't seem like this card caught on much but I'm using
a yamaha DSPF and love it. I guess it lost out on the 24/96
hype. It's internal mix and routing functions are great (it
really is an O2R on a card). The point of this is that I've
been recently involved in a demo project where I used Vegas
for every step of the project including tracking. Cue mixes
were easily created in the DSPF which doesn't bog the CPU
one bit. I got as high as playing back 25 at 48Khz 16bit
while tracking another 8 and never had any latency issues at
all. I was working with Session cats who would jump all
over me if anything was out but it never happened.

FWIW the DSPF and Vegas have worked flawlessly for me since
day 1 and have allowed me to bypass recording to DA-88 or
ADAT and use Vegas as my tracking app. I'm sure there's
some latency going on but it is soooo negligable that I
really just can't hear it (spare me the golden ears rant I
worked for 6 years as a post engineer with PT rigs, MFX3's,
DAD's, NEVE Logic 2's etc... and am well versed in listening
for, looking for, and correcting digital sync issues).

I've been tracking for months with Vegas so I know the App
is certainly up to the task. I'm happy and more importantly
so are my clients, what more could I ask for.

My Rig: Dual PIII450's
512 MB
10k Seagate 18GB Cheetah (and 65GB of IDE HD's)
Yamaha DSP Factory
Matrox G400 Dual Head
NT4.0 sp6
