You Tube

Hi and thank you in advance for responding. I editied on Vegas Platinum 8 about a 50 minute video that I would like to post to You Tube.

What is the easiest way to break down the video into 8-10 minute segments so I can upload them? Is there a tool within Vegas that will help me to do this?

If you do respond please be as specific as possible as sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake.

Thank you so much,

David

Just click on the video clip you want to divide at the point on the timeline you want to break it at. Press the S key. This will split the clip at the point you indicated.

Do this until your clips are all divided. Then, using the loop region selector, highlight just the first region to be uploaded. Then in the File menu, Render the project. When the dialogue box comes up, before clicking OK to start the render, make sure the Render Loop Region Only box is checked. Otherwise the whole project will render.

Is this specific enough? I can do even more detail if necessary.

Thank you so much,

I will give it a try over the weekend and see how it works. It seems like it should be specific enough.

Thanks again,

David

There is no reason to actually split the video into clips. You can just set the LOOP REGION to the appropriate time/spots.

For instance from the begining to the 9:50 min mark for the first. From the 9:45 to 19:40 for the second .. and so on.

Those are just examples of what times to choose. You may want to stop at some "logical" spots .. rather than in the middle of a sentence or something.

You can drag the clip ends to the appropriate spots .. or you can use the keyboard shortcuts ... the letter "i" for the IN POINT, and the letter "o" for the OUT POINT.

Similar to what Brighterside's recommendation, another way to do this is to use markers (m key) at the segment breaks then loop the regions between the markers and you can label them. This is a little more flexable than splitting the tracks.

One nice thing about how the marker works is you can just hit "m" while your video is playing and it will insert a marker point.

Another "tool" you may find useful is the Region feature.

Just select a range on the time line and press "r".
