YouTube Quality of video

YokeUP wrote on 8/4/2007, 9:46 AM
I need some help... I have been rendering videos for YouTube and when I pick the 3M bit rate, render mode, My file is over 100M, but when I choose the 512 setting it drops the file size down to under 20,000.... which is good, but the quality of the video is not so hot.

How do I set the custom rendering choices to go somewhere inbetween and have good quality video etc... under the 100M limit for YouTube?

Thanks for all the help.

Here are some various resources that might help you. The first one in particular is sworn by by some Vegas users, although admittedly I haven't been able to get the same results (which I'm still investigating). It (or one of the others) might help:

While fishing around the Digital Juice forum, a recent thread had a link to THIS site. While it talks about Compressor, I believe the settings mentioned can be used in VMS with custom settings. The only thing I didn't see was a match for AAC in the Audio tab.

I hope at the very least, it gives you something additional to think about.

What would be the best VMS alternative to the PhotoJPEG recommended in this article ? AVI with a DV codec perhaps ?

I've found that rendering as a PhotoJPEG MOV and uploading to youtube gives a much better quality than an uploaded high quality wmv, as the article suggests.

Super!! What audio settings did you use?

I haven't looked at audio yet ... getting good video on youtube has been challenging enough.

I've also tried the recommended sharpening filter and slight oversaturation ... these also definitely help the appearance on youtube.

Just so we're all clear, which settings exactly? I'm glad to hear it worked for you.
