YouTube-Themed DVD Project (source included!)

Using Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, & Sony DVD Architect I created a YouTube themed DVD. A friend of mine needed a simple DVD package that was professional, but not overly fancy. Inspired by the new menus that appear at the end of YouTube videos, I set to work.

I wanted to share what I made, including the source, with everybody here. I included the footage, the DVD Architect menu (*.dar), the Vegas project (*.veg, for transitions), the Photoshop file (and required fonts), and the pre-rendered Master (for those who want to see the final product. It fits all into a 7.63 MB 7z file. If you don't know how to open 7z (7-Zip) files, I recommend using 7-Zip, it's small, it's free, and the download is right on the main page.

You can open the Master project whatever media player you prefer, I personally tested it in Window Media Player, Media Player Classic, and VLC. If you don't know what to do, you want to open VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO

Very good example of the use of a short video for transition and using PSD layers for the button highlight. The only problem I saw was that your intro and extro mpgs out point on the timeline are past the end of the video.

Thanks for checking it out, Steve! Could you help me correct that problem you mentioned?

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean by the mpg's out points being past the video on the timeline. Did you mean that the clips drag on past the point they should? I did notice that the transition clips would hold after they were done for a mysterious extended period of time, however, I have no clue as to what I would have done to cause that.

In the Project Overview window, double-click the "menu intro" item so that you navigate into its timeline. On the timeline, drag the yellow triangle on the right so that it lines up with the end of your video. In fact, you might want to move it a tick further in, 'cause I think you've got some black at the end of your intro video.

Follow the same steps "item 01 extro" and "item 02 extro".

Over all, good job.

I saw what you were talking about, wow, I have no clue how that happened but I fixed it. I can see the difference! The new link at the top should take you to the new project. Once my friends records the two songs he's recording I'll replace the dummy footage. I haven't seen many others post their projects on these boards, is it uncommon?

Thanks for sharing your work - very nice

It would indeed be nice to see some more projects and ideas around here but usually i need all the time just to finish the basic project and hardly get around developing new ideas

We submitted the finalized (actual footage and text in place) DVD to Anahiem Pond today.

If my friend gets the job, he'll be the official national anthem singer at the Anahiem Pond. If that happens, I do hope, somehow, the guys who work on Vegas and DVD Architect know it was their software that put it together. :)

I'll also try to post more projects on here as I develop them, especially after V7/DVDA4 are released.

This has now been deleted from the hosting.

Any chance of a repost? I am struggling with making my buttons work and would appreciate seeing a "finished" project

Hey guys, yea, I'll be happy to re-upload it. I'll try to do two things, upload the old one this morning, and then make a new one, because YouTube has changed since that version (albeit only month or so ago).
