Z1 HDV 50i / 60i confusion!

Following a recent investigation into Z1 downconverted timecode, I inadvertantly reset my Z1 to 60i and forgot (!) to change it back to 50i before shooting some footage for a project which is otherwise 50i.

Can anyone confirm what, if any, issues this might cause?

The project will finish up as a widescreen 720 x 576 25fps PAL DVD. I guess I'm wondering at which stage it will be best to convert the footage, to be, or look as similar as possible to the 50i shot material.

Thanks for any illumination.

Peter

Thanks!

Peter,
as you're going down in frame rate I don't think you'll have too many issues just dropping it all into a Vegas 50i project and encoding straight out to mpeg-2. One problem you might face is flicker, even at 60i. The Z1 has a filter to get rid of this but as you didn't realise you were shooting 60i you probably didn't turn it on!

The good news is of course that the res is the same at 50i and 60i, at least they got that bit right.

Bob.

Yes - thanks Bob - I must admit I was relieved that at least the res was the same. I wasn't sure whether things like resampling might help.

One complication is that I'm first supplying the client with a TC burn on DVD - but at least whatever numbers are on her copy are also on my timeline thumbnails.
