Z1U Rebate at B&H...

Hey, I just noticed today that B&H and Sony have a nice rebate offer for the Z1 from June 1st - September 30th, 2006.

"End users can receive 10 Digital master Tapes; Vegas 6.0 Software & 2 Batteries"

I can always use good tapes, another copy of Vegas, and batteries. A pair of 970s perhaps? :)

John

Edit: Looks like this isn't just for B&H but for any Sony Authorized Dealer!

that'll be good for Vegas I'd say. Anyone who buys a Z1 gets a copy of Vegas 6, I generally try software that i get for free - could add to the flock.

Brilliant idea! The only catch is that sometimes people look at "free" as being "cheap." I hope they really build Vegas up.

I saw a Sony ad in VideoMaker magazine where they push Sony as offering the complete solution, from shooting to editing to playback. For editing, they wrote about the power of their Vaio desktop. Not a single word about Sony Vegas (or any other Sony NLE). I was quite surprised by this.

Looking a little bit more I also noticed that B&H is offering the Vortex Hands On: A Guide to the FX1 and Z1 DVD as well for free with the purchase of a Z1. I just received my Z1 from them last Thursday so I called and they said since I was inside the two week window of the promotion that they'd ship it to me. I'm feeling really good about buying from them right now :)

No surprise.

It's an ad for a Sony Vaio Computer. Sony Computer and Madison Media division of Sony are two completely separate companies who are both owned by the same parent corporation. Sony Computer can select any NLE they want for their bundle packages. Sony Corporate apparently does not micro-manage the divisions to require them to push other Sony products.

I wouldn't call it micro -managing. I'd call it informing one division of a great product made by another division.

The Vaio guys probably think everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
