Zippy is an asset

I like this Zippy guy.. Why? well I think he is a valuable resource to the Vegas community. Somehow he is able to use vegas and find some of the most bizarre quirks and bugs in Vegas . Although some are irritated by his method of delivery, Bringing this to the attention of Sofo helps ensure a system moreso stable than it already is.

"Although some are irritated by his method of delivery, Bringing this to the attention of Sofo helps ensure a system moreso stable than it already is."

There's the bug! His method of delivery.
As far as I can tell, this forum was started as a peer to peer discussion area. Well, the peers aren't appreciating MOST of his posts. That's a shame for him because he could be getting so much more out of these forums. His loss not ours.
We have the Ignore button, so we don't need to read his posts. If we don't use the ignore feature and respond to his posts, should we then turn around and complain about it? We answered didn't we? We didn't have to.

Also, all these shortfalls, either imagined or not, could and should be brought to Sony's attention via the support options and the product suggestion "box".
Again, his loss if he doesn't use it.

My feelings about Zip are mostly the " it's a shame" type. He could be much more of an asset if he knew how to post in a more civilized manner. Now...he's just seen as an asset without the "et".

Scotty This whole zipp thing doesent add up to me why are people upset by him? If he was interfering with other users I could understand but he sets a thread up and people have a choice.

Personally I have only just looked at his posts because I was A bit bored and curious by all the people answering Is there some kind of hypnosis going on.

YOu WiLl read My pOsTS

Folks are reading so that they can be outraged I think zipps is uniting folks in a common goal and that feeling of comradship is building into a witch hunt.

There are two options

1) Read zipps posts and be entertained

2) Dont read his Posts

I know that I for one am just about ready to stop using this forum untill it matures a bit, and I don't mean just Zippy, I mean everyone. I used to go through these forums many times a day and offer tips and suggestions to peoples problems, and I believe and hope that I have helped a lot of people. Now I find myself more and more in the Cow and DMN forums simply becasue these boards have gotten out of control. I would expect this kind of stuff in a teengers forum but not a forum that is supposed to be filled with video professionals and adults.

One thing about Zippy is he's really nice. He never really gets abusive, just a little irritated. I think he needs to get some prescription glasses so he can see the screen from 2 feet away instead of peering at it from 3 inches and finding errant pixels.

P.S. One of my pet theories is that Zippy is a plant by Sonic Foundry for comic relief! :)

Hmmm....Having to render is a bug? Not

Not being able to preview at the same time as looking at a clip in the Trimmer is a bug? Not. It's just Zippy not understanding video editing. A Firewire card can't stream 2 streams of video. It's not a Vegas issue. Call Microsoft and IEEE1394 panel.

Not being able to set opacity at 40% is a bug? Not. It's again just Zippy not understanding how to use the app.

Zippy has yet to find one genuine bug to my knowledge. Delivery method or not, it's akin to Chicken Little screaming "The sky is falling" when in truth, it's plain ignorance.
I've avoided picking on Zippy because I understand that new users or newbies to editing need some slack. But it DOES become exceptionally irritating when incredibly mundane tasks are screamed out as being defective simply because an owners manual, help file, or other simply-accessed answer isn't sought out.
Nope, I truly believe that Zippy likes the attention. Look at the board just now. He gets to see his name in nearly 100 posts. That's near super-stardom in here. While I don't agree he should be blocked, he certainly cannot be called an 'asset' to the forum. Not when the posts are childlike and silly.
I'm sure Zippy is a very nice but exciteable person. But these types of posts simply serve to demean the product itself. *IF* Zippy finds a real bug, I'm sure most of us will be there fast to repro it. But, like the lil' boy who cried "wolf," his credibility is apparently gone based on the posts we see here.

Perhaps nearly everything about vegas 4 issues problems has been discussed and the forum is looking for some thing new.

One things for sure its a nice community and it would be a shame if it deteriorates perhaps we are now ready for

Hi Spot

I take your point. But as a vegas fan and customer Vegas could not possibly be demeaned. This is the only logical editing system and will in time become the standard.

I know that in the world of advertising and competition Luck, Mone,y and unfair tactics. can push you ahead for a short time. But eventually the truth will out. And as the techniques used in vegas must be copyright then ultimately this will be the best investment of all .

I can understand why zipps can be annoying .But to me the customer I PERSONALLY totally disregard anything that he may advise.

Like you said HE has not found one valid fault.

SPOT summed up the zippy situation perfectly. Zippy just wants the attention. Although people on this forum are professionals and want to help, if you're offended by him you should just ignore his posts and he will go away from the lack of attention. Zippy, assuming he's one in the same person, appears on other forums and has iratated their members as well. I haven't read a zippy post for months. Lets not let this individual drag us into his world.

... and I finally found out how to use the "ignore user" function. Oh what a pleasure to have stopped the zippypippy thing :-)

Actually, I think Zippy would be more of an asset on the Pinnacle Studio forums. Plenty of juicy bugs to obsess on and fewer "confusing" features. And for $99, he could throw it away if he didn't like it. Certainly more interesting than being the lonely Maytag guy he is here. I can understand the gratification of finding a bug in Vegas -- just like the types that search the planet over for rare undocumented orchids, but really . . .
