Zooming in on a slide

You're probably going to think I'm an idiot, but this is my first attempt at video editing and I'm kind of over my head. On Tim Shephard's "Lady" video, he shows one shot of a boy and the dog: the transition from the prior slide is a quick cross-fade, but then the boy-and-dog slide continues to zoom in. How do you do that? I can't seem to find a way to zoom in on a single slide - I only see the zoom transition effect for transitioning between slides.

Am I overlooking something painfully obvious?

The Pan/Crop tool. Click on the "FX" button on the event, click the "Pan/Crop" tab. Look at the "Begin" and "End" buttons. Just set up a rectangle for the begin frame and one for the end frame and you're set. If you want to avoid any black borders in your video, right-click the pan/crop preview window and select "Match output aspect".

Thanks - I actually discovered that after doing some more digging on this board. However, I didn't know about the aspect thing, so thank you for the tip.

I probably sound like a kid with a new toy, but I haven't been this excited about a particular aspect of computing or a new piece of software in years - this video editing is FUN! I hope to get much better at it in the coming months.

Again - thanks for the reply.
