Zooming on a photo on video track

I have done this before but I must be forgetting something. I have a video on track 3 and I place a photo on video track 2 which will replace that segment of video on track 3. I go into pan/crop of the photo and hit lock aspect ratio and then right click the photo and select match output aspect and set first and last key frames by cropping the photo as I want it to zoom. However as I zoom in the video on track 3 starts to show on each side. This did not happen last time I did this. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure I understand how you are planning to 'replace' the segment on track 3 with the photo on track 2. Having said that, I would do as you did and go to the first keyframe of your photo and 'Match Output Aspect', then click on 'Last Keyframe' and do the same. Can't see why it wouldn't work, but I've been wrong before :) Cin

Thanks for the response. I forgot to hit match output aspect before the first keyframe and last. It works. I will explain what I am doing, a spoof on the TV show Law and Order SVU. In the opening segment where it introduces the castmembers I am replacing the photos with my cast. So I have the main video track on track 3, the photo I am replacing on track 2 and the cast member name on track 1. It all works great.
