Atn: REDNROLL Vegas 5 no good!
To me it rather sounds like a problem with WinXP SP2. I have Vegas Versions 3,4 and 5 all working on my computer, no problems - just OS is old W2k SP4.

Sneak PeakFlash site UPDATED 8/30
I got kind of dizzy looking at three Monitors, so I'm back to two 19" TFTs. Using 2x1280x1024 with the P750 and liking it. Small contribution to the topic: personally I don't like too much flash on a site. Earth spinning far too fast, and my choice of colors would be different. But interesting effort. Installed flash player 7 and now I can see the Site even with Mozilla firefox, my favourite player. Alex

Preview Docked, No Control?
Well I guess I found out what it must look like, since I got the same "un"functionality. Nevertheless, do send it. Just tried Vegas on three Monitors at a time, desktop resolution for Windows is 3840x1024 stretching across all three screens, Vegas Window from left to right, Timeline over all three Windows. Nevertheless, with this same layout, as soon as the Preview Window is up there in the docking area with the Trimmer, you can't activate the timeline controls by clicking on the preview Window. Ouch, and now I have to alter that setup back to something less hard on the eyes. So goodnight from Vienna Alex

Preview Docked, No Control?
What's the graphics card behind this setup? Could well be that the setup of the two monitors is the source of your problem. I just threw out two graphics cards and added a Matrox P750 to my system, second TFT waiting that I find some room on my desk for it. Your layout looks pretty much like my own Alt-D-4 , which you can find at http://www.vegasvideo.de/forum/thread.php?threadid=2081&sid= a little bit down the page. No problems with that layout for me. If you want to send me your layout, you can do so at ab@vegasvideo.de. Edit: I tried your layout with the trimmer up there, leaving the Preview window next to it - Bingo! same behavior that you posted, no control over Preview click. That Trimmer Window up there has to go! However, as soon as I move the Preview to the second screen, all is well again. Tragic but true. =) A.

Preview Docked, No Control?
IMO not true. How did you lose it? I've fiddled with Internal Presets to try the docking area on top layout, even there it's click on preview for the controls to work. It's just when you use the trimmer or the explorer to preview clips that you lose the command of timeline play temporarily. Do you mean you can't start playback with the Shuttle or Keyboard? =) A.

Rendering - pause???
Grazie: Health - no. Happiness - not really. Richness beyond my wildest dreams - you're kidding. But Vegas keeps on rendering leaving me a responsive computer. Higher priority than normal doesn't help. Priority below normal or low makes Windows use Vegas instead of the "idle process", which is the one usually getting 99% of your Computers resources. We all have been waiting for the Computer you can shut down at any given moment and resume your Work 4 hours or days later. It still doesn't exist, or does it? This is not the task to be solved by a single program, but rather by the operating system, if you want to call Windows XP an operating system. Would be a nice feature in Vegas, no doubt. But I'd rather have it in all of my programs, provided by the next Windows, whatever name it will have. ;-)A.

Rendering - pause???
Why don't you simply start Vegas with priority=low for the rendering task? You can do what you want on your computer, just slowing down the render process. So why pause the render when you can have it in the background?

Hi Grazie! If you're using Windows XP there is a posting in a german forum about an old W98 driver that works with XP and seems to deal with the DV problem. How to set a copyright etc. text in an AVI?
You can usually fill in these fields in the Explorer. Don't know with DivX or XVid, but with DV-Avis it works well.

Bob Looks like the Chrosziel Kit is a lot more money than the cam itself. The original sunshade is rather a design thing, not much help at blocking off stray light. But I have to get a decent tripod first. If you are into 16:9 you might want to wait for the Canon XL-2, no need for an anamorphic adapter, so the price will be in the same range. Alex

Why no overwrite mode in Vegas ?
Why not just put the overwrite clip in a video track above the clips you want to hide? Very simple, every opportunity to adjust, when you like the setup you can always make it permanent by cutting out the section on the lower track (without ripple) and moving your overwrite clip down.

I will not have Net Notify
Far from being annoyed by net notify, I'm thankful for the hint about ACID 4f. Somehow they didn't notify me, although Net Notify is turned on. You get all sorts of crap over the net, advertising updates is among the few things welcome to me. A.

Which A/D converter?
The ADVC-55 is a nice little box, quite ok, does A/D only. Some troubles with bad source tapes. If I could choose again I'd rather take the 300.

A PC is a tool, and I like my tools plain, boring and functional. Nothing against a better design, some of these Macs are truely pretty. But cutouts emitting blue fluorescent light, bubbling coolers..... brrrr. ;-) A.
