OT: BlackMagic Camera
Unless someone knows something about his wonderful bit of kit that I don't, why is it on cinema5d.com when it is not a DSLR??? This will certainly make other manufacturers think very very hard. For $3000 what is there to compare it with?? Anthony

OT: Blackmagic H.264 Pro Recorder review
We had a number of problems with this recorder too, crashing after recording for more than 1 hour and ten minutes (same on two units), vertical synch problems on composite input, no jkl shuttle in Media Express 3. Also audio level inconsistency between video inputs with standard test tone. Combination of problems with this recorder and media express with a Decklink card installed. BMD took it back with a full refund. A pity, as normally BMD products are great, also let down by Media Express 3 software. Anthony

SCS wants help to "improve Vegas Pro 11"!
No one can ask for a better response than that from Sony. To provide a software as complex as Vegas Pro to run on a multitude of computers, some good for the purpose, others not, is a feat in itself, and considering the purchase price too. All too often this forum is a deluge of people whining that Pro 11 won't run on their Sinclair ZX81 and want their money back, which puts the serious postings at the bottom of the page. It will be interesting to see the feedback on this.

Departure from forums - indefinite
@[r]Evolution I agree 100% with you to keep the forum 'On topic'. I suggested long ago that the forum should be moderated similar to Creative Cow and was told in so many words to shut up. If you take a look at the Lightworks forum, this is how imho a forum should run. Keep all the ot trivia to Faecebook etc. I too have benefited from musicvids inputs.

Where to place Audio Monitors?
Hi, Nick's placement is about right, the 60 degree placement is about perfect, i.e monitors spaced in a triangle where your head is at 60 degrees and each speaker is at 60 degrees too. Tweeters definitely at ear height. If you lay your speakers on their sides, have both tweeters into the center. Angle the speakers towards you. There are some good separation test tracks for stereo imaging on the web. Hope this helps. Anthony

problem in video capture
One thing I have often found when capturing from the HVR-M25, after you launch the HDV or DV capture program, cycle the power off/on switch on the deck. Anthony

OT: Marketing film for the Polaroid SX-70 camera
Thank you John, a great film and a great camera. I used mine for many years, loved the colors and never knew before what went on inside. Sadly I sold it a few years ago, would make a good collectors piece. The Polaroid 35mm film too was superb, I still have some with all the kit! Probably gone off by now. Thanks again Anthony

When I want stills, I play the footage through VLC player using the snapshot button. You can set the de-interlace, blend is about right for me, Anthony

OT: Kodak shares dive as bankruptcy fears escalate
American business never seems to remember the first rule of survival: -- Adapt or Die Same as the UK, we had motorcycle, car manufacturing, and many manufacturing companies with great names, and pre war tooling etc. Where are they now? Just service industries and importing everything from China. Strangely, we don't hear of monthly import/export balance of payments anymore, I wonder why? But, it will all go wrong in the near future. Vegas Pro to Cinema
The out of sync audio lets it down, I notice that it is partly where an expletive has been taken out of the audio only. Personally, I would like to hear dialog right to the end of the trailer, rather than see lips move and no sound except the music. Was it all shot on VDSLR too? Anthony

Minimum requirements for broadcast?

@ amendeqw Well Jerry, I hate to say it but if you think this was technically superb then I suggest you do not give up the day job. The video was poor as the poster admitted, together with an error on the green screen on the elbow, and the audio was simply not up to standard. The content IMHO was mediocre, and really done to death many times. Whether for you tube or whatever, this would not have left my studio facility. Anthony JC

film look question
Everybody goes on about getting the "film look", what about getting that wonderful "film sound", or should I say cinema sound. I still get thrilled when I go to a movie house and hear that un-describeable sound from the movies, the ambience and sheer quality of the sound is total pleasure to me which of course adds to the enjoyment of the visual experience. The nearest I have got to hearing that on my home theater system is during the days of laser disc, 1492 being a classic. Anthony
