Playing around w/ this a little and found other other keyframe combination that works for smoooth zooming are: - set 1st keyframe to Smooth and last keyframe to Slow - set 1st keyframe to Smooth and last keyframe to Smooth

My favorite setting for smooth pan/crop movements use 3 keyframes -Position 1st keyframe set to: Slow -Position last keyframe, pan/crop the frame set the last keyframe to: Slow -Add keyframe between the the 1st and last keyframe set to: Fast. Demo: Just setting the first keyframe to Fast and the last keyframe to Slow works nicely also:

Looking for Pointing Devices for Video Editing
First the free option: For more accuracy have you tried to change (slow down) the mouse speed in the Control Panel, Mouse, Pointer Option Tab? If this doen't work for you, You can also purchase a decent gaming mouse between $20-$30. Remove Unused Media & Save
Thanks for sharing Nick. I can see using this. I've been a media pack-rat and just move the whole project to my archive drive and leave it as is. This should save a lot of space and time at the end of a project.

BobDiMarzio, What version of Vegas 13 are you on? If you're on the latest version you may want to try rolling back the previous version. If you're on an older release try loading the latest one. I'm on Vegas 12 so not sure what the latest release is for 13.

My tribute to The Alan Parsons Project Studio Vid
Very nice recording and video! Really enjoyed it. Noticed the Tokai Les Paul. It sounded great! Brought back memories of my good friend who bought a Tokai Strat when I was a dependent in Japan in '82-'83. I remember it was a very nice sounding guitar and heavy. At the time Tokai was making some of the best clones. I was going to buy one before I left Japan but procrastinated too long and left for the Army before I could buy one. *sigh* Gotta love the "Love Rock" in place of the Les Paul logo! (; I'm going back to Japan next April and may have to stop by Ochanumizu Music district and see if they have any Tokai guitar clones! Anyway Great job thanks for sharing.

rendering mp4 from templates not working
FFMPEG can do this.. I use FFMPEG to convert .flv to mp4 and stitch multiple mp4 files to one a single contiguous file Here's some code to convert from mp4 to flv. Command Sample 1 ffmpeg -i source.mp4 -c:v libx264 -crf 19 destinationfile.flv Command Sample 2: ffmpeg -i source.mp4 -c:v libx264 -ar 22050 -crf 28 destinationfile.flv Note that -crf XX is the quality of the video you will create. It's between 0 and 51 (but between 17 and 23 is a reasonable range and the lower the number is, the better quality the video is going to be). The -ar 22050 is for adjusting the audio sample range (audio quality). You can choose 11025, 22050 or 44100. Hope this helps.

VOB MPEG2 files behave strangely on the timeline?
I've had similar issues w/ Vegas not playing nice w/ some video mpeg video files. You may want to try to re-encoded w/ Handbrake to the same settings as the original video and see if this works. Done similar thing w/ ffmpeg.

Proper Room Acoustics for Audio Editing
What type of audio editing are you planning to do? Voice, music, both? If you're planning on doing voice only those monitors should be fine. If you're planning on editing music you should think about getting a sub woofer to make up for the 20-80Hz bottom end that the Mackie CR Series CR3's are lacking.

KEEP VEGAS ALIVE - a petition
Yes, I agree VideoITGuy. There's probably ten of thousands of users that use Vegas that don't even know about this because they are not part of the forum or Vegas communities. This is the only forum I read on a daily basis. I'm subscribed to only 2 other forums that I don't even access on a regular basis. If any of the software, i use, should go away tomorrow I wouldn't have a clue until I check for an update or something. If Vegas 14 were to be released I'd pick it up because it's part of my every other version upgrade cycle. Conservatively, I'd say multiply what ever number in the petition by x100 and that would be an approx user base.

Post Production Audio
I use a couple of portable Tascam DR40 4ch recorders w/ xlr mic inputs and a Roland R9 all set @ 24bit 48K. First, I do the audio mix w/ audio from only the recorders in Cubase first then import the final mix into Vegas 12 Pro and sync the multi camera videos to the mixed (now master) audio track using Plural Eyes. Just so happens a friend was asking what Cubase looked like on the mix and I happen to have made a screen capture of Cubase 8.5.15 overlay the band playing. You can fwd to about 3:30 to see me toggling thru the track EQ settings. The effects on the far right are compressors and the effect at about the 9:00 is a de-esser. Nuendo and Cubase are both Steinberg products so whether you use Pro Tools or Nuendo or Cubase you will get great results. This was one of my first gigs using this setup: 2 - Tascam DR40 internal mics 1 for bass and 2nd recorder for BD. 2 - C1000 mics for drum overheads 1 - Roland R9 front I'm still tweaking the mix so it's a little rough but much better than audio just from the camera mics. The video was not very good because it was a very dark venue. I usually have more cameras but I was mainly concerned w/ the audio this time. Btw, If I need to mix audio from the cameras, I just do it in Vegas, which is great for audio too.

Is Sony going the evil way?
I've heard some here mentioned that they like the Adobe subscription model because they got a "discount" for $20/ month. This might be OK for ONE application but if more vendors jump on this easy revenue SCHEME the cost will add up quite quickly. I.E. aside from free tools, the 5 main applications on my video/DAW: -Vegas 12 Pro -Boris RED -Cubase -Reason -Corel Paintshop Pro Support Apps: -Izodope RX3 -Mercalli Video Stabilizer -Red Giant Plural Eyes Free Tools: -MSI Afterburner Screen Capture -OBS Screen capture -BB Flashback Screen capture -Eagle CAD circuit design -Open Office -Handbrake -Image Burn -TeamViewer -VLC Player -Bamboo Dock Exculuding the support and free tools, If Vegas, Boris, Cubase, Corel and Reason charged a "reasonable" $20 per month that would come out... do the math... a whopping $1200/year every year. How anyone can say that's a deal for hobbyist? Even at $15/mo comes out to $900/yr. So say support apps start their "affordable" $10/mo subscription plan that comes out to an additional $360/yr. Totals: This comes out to $1560/yr and $1200/yr total BS.

OT: Red Giant 25% off everything
Got the notice too. Used the coupon to purchase Plural Eyes 4 upgrade for $75.00. Tested it on a 2 hour multi cam and multi recorder video and it actually worked! I've been quite critical of version 3. Though V4 took some time to prepare the long audio recorder files, which was expected, it was be able to sync all the files except 2 video clips. Must say much better than version 3.
