Levels on 32-bit files
@Marco. Did you get the same clipped peaks on the waveform, even though the audio is still there? What version do you have?

Levels on 32-bit files
I tried doing the rebuild before I posted originally, it does nothing. There is a set of files on the SoundDesign website showing the differences between 32 bit float and 24 bit files. You can find the link at here. Use the file titled 32_bit_float.WAV

@adis-a3097 Yes, the normalize does not recognize anything above 0 dbfs. It would seem that lowering the event gain does the trick, however there is a buggy aspect to this because the lower gain does not recover the "clipped" signal in the waveform on the timeline. It looks like a clipped signal. My sample recording includes a peak at + 25 dbfs. If I bring the event gain down to -25 db the playback shows the peak in the meters at near 0 dbfs, but the waveform picture is still clipped, now at -25 dbfs. Seems buggy...would really like the visual ques. BTW, I am using VP 15.

Chromakay in V12 any good vs AE Keylight?
Keying is an art even under the best conditions. Different tools work better with what you want to achieve. While Keylight gives you things like a matte choker, I personally believe you should not use them because mattes that are choked look exactly like that. It is better to use a lot of masks and filters toget a good key. I have tried Boris and the VP built in along with NewBlueFx's filter. (actually like NewBlue Chromakey Pro as the best "plugin"). I just do not like the way that this implements within Vegas. Currently I am using Hitfilm Pro and you get a very serious keyer along with a bunch of other stuff for about the same price as Boris Keying Suite. My $0.02

Advanced color correction plugin
I have both NB Color Fast and RG Magic Bullet Looks. Both will do what you want. I find MBL to be more "advanced" and more user friendly than the NB product.

It would appear that Magix just migrated their Video Pro X to support OFX plugins. Hopefully this means that our plugs will transfer over (they don't always work across all OFX platforms). That's where most of my money is anyway......

Best Sound Recording Format?
In the real world 96k and 192k are overkill, and take up way too much resources. Go with 48k. Do record at 24 bit resolution as it gives you editing overhead on your levels, assuming your mic can capture that range. There are other benefits from using 24 bit, but you are unlikely to derive them based on your likely recording sources and equipment. File format - .wav of course.

Removing Hiss with Sony Vegas Pro
Background noise reduction is not an easy problem. that is why sound folks go to great extent to eliminate noise in the environment that filming occurs in. Most if not all "noise reduction" software will leave artifacts because you are removing frequency content of all signals.. These artifacts' observability is proportional to the amount of reduction you do. Artful noise reduction is a little bit of this and a very little bit of that. There is some hope with more surgical methods like spectral manipulation (SpectraLayers), but that takes a high degree of skill and time in any case. If you find the plug that eliminates noise without reducing audio quality of the desired signal.... let me know. There are some good vids on the web that cover doing artful noise reduction using standard tools that most DAWs have including Vegas Pro. my $0.02 c

Basic first steps for NB TitlerPro4 in VegasPro13?
I have had issues with using TP3 as an effect. I will assume that it is the same for TP4. After some discussion with NB technical support I was told that the recommended approach is to us TP as "generated media", not as an effect. There were legitimate recognized artifacts that showed up when used as an effect.

OT: Historic Rocket Landing
@VMP Bezos Hired a bunch of former DC-X engineers to be part of the Blue Origin team. By the way this tech has been around even longer because it is the same tech as the Lunar Excursion Module ala 1960s. That was super lightweight for journey to moon (so you probably crush it for earth landing) but the science is the same. They actually did it with 2 people in it a quarter million miles away. c

@VMP "I think this is the first time ever rocket landing." Actually it is not. Look up DC-X (1996) Bezos and Musk do not offer new technology just cheaper production and commercialization/marketing of old space technology.

Changing audio speed "cleanly?"
Ableton Live is probably the best choice. You can probably get a demo/limited free version to do what you want. Anytime you muck with the tempo there is risk of artifacts. (just like applying noise reduction).

New Hitfilm 4 Pro
There are some on the HF forum reporting loss of integration with VP13. Has anyone here tested that? I enjoy that feature with HF3 and VP13 and would be a showstopper for me on HF4.....

OT: Eyeglasses for Editing
Use "office progressives". They are not for long distance, rather designed for focus at reading distance ~16" to maybe 3 feet" a bit past your monitor. You do have to move your head a little bit but nothing like a full range progressive. I love them!!!!

Outline a person
If the subject is moving it is not too hard, particularly if you have a clean plate. No masking or green screen is required. Use a difference key (subtract one plate from another) and then play with the resultant matte to create your outline. (there are matte plugins that will do this within Vegas, a matte choker is helpful here). I find Vegas' compositing a bit cumbersome so I'd rather do this in actual compositing software. (HitFilm, Blender, etc.) This is the same technique that you can use to create the cloaking effect seen in Predator.

Computer shutting down during render
Actually a vacuum is much better than a blower. Blower can jam bits of sticky dust into card sockets etc. Make sure to ground properly and clean vents/screens as well. Airflow is king! It is summer in northern hemisphere and a few degrees hotter in ambient temps can cause marginally cooled computers to shut down. In a simplistic fashion you can think of cooling systems in a at their peak provide a constant change in temperature. So if it gets hotter in the room you are going to have hotter cpu temps.

Project Properties: View Transform
I remember 12 had this bug and it was very irritating. I had a work around which was to save a blank project with the settings I wanted. My memory is not so great on this but thought that they fixed the bug in the last version prior to 13. It is definitely fixed in 13.

Best Speakers & Atmosphere for Audio Editing?
Earphones are really only good for identifying frequency content and are very poor at spatial imaging. There are some VST plugins you can get for audio that can ad imaging to a headphone set, but it is a crutch. Better to get some studio monitors and treat your room a little (do not invest in foam but rather fiberglass panels). Mackie makes some excellent monitors for the price and a 6" or 8" inch set is plenty good. 5.1 mixing is another story completely.

How does one open more than one project using Win8
I am using Win 8.1 (and previously 8.0) and can open two instances of Vegas 13. I can also nest at least 3 layers deep. (haven't tried deeper.)

NewBlue Chroma Key Pro vs Vegas Chroma Keyer?
I think it is easier to pull a good key with NB's keyer. However there are better tools. The keyer from Boris BCC is nice and I much prefer the keyer in HitFilm.
